Cryptic Witch Aims to Shake Up Stoner Metal with Summoning The groundbreaking debut album that is redefining the genre. Denver, CO - An up and coming is three piece project combining elements of stoner metal, psych, doom, prog and blues to create a sound that is uniquely Cryptic Witch. Their innovative debut album Summoning blends groovy and progressive drums with thick, growly bass, filthy riffs and ripping guitar solos. Allegorical lyrics tell the tale of an entity hell-bent on the destruction of mankind. Borrowing from the styles of legends like Toni Iommi (Black Sabbath) and David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), guitarist Tommy Murello gives us passionate leads reminiscent of Terry Kath (Chicago). His rhythmic riffs and melodies however are pulled straight from the play book of more modern stoner metal bands like The Sword and Kyuss giving the band it's signature sound. Bassist Pat Young credits ZZ Top and Brisket as his two major influences. His style can be described as heavy and greasy, bringing the best out of thick Texas blues. The trifecta of speed, power, and precision from drummer Conor Amanatullah is the driving force behind the band. With influences stemming from Opeth and Tool to Dave Matthews Band, Conor keeps the listener on their toes effortlessly transitioning from a slow, punchy groove to a massive, resonating presence. With such a wide spectrum of influence the band's multi layered approach to writing will keep Cryptic Witch stuck in your head.
